2. Information We Collect

a) Automatically collected data

When you visit the site, standard web server logs may record your IP address, browser type, referring page, and pages you visit. This data is used for security and basic traffic analysis and is not linked to your identity.

b) Information you provide voluntarily

If you submit the newsletter sign-up form, we collect your email address. We use it only to send the content you requested. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.

c) Information collected by advertising (with consent)

If you consent to advertising cookies, Google AdSense may collect information about your device, browser, and browsing activity across websites to serve relevant ads. See Section 4 for full details.

d) Information we do not collect

We do not collect names, home addresses, phone numbers, or payment information. We do not require account creation to use the site.

3. Cookies

We use two categories of cookies. You control which categories are active via the cookie preference panel shown on your first visit.

4. Advertising and Google AdSense

This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. When you consent to advertising cookies, Google may:

• Set cookies on your device to remember your browsing activity
• Use that information to show you ads relevant to your interests
• Share data with its advertising partners under its own privacy policy

Google AdSense uses the DoubleClick DART cookie, which enables Google to serve ads to users based on visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of the DART cookie by visiting Google's Ad Settings or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

Child-directed content: Because this site covers early-childhood education, we configure Google AdSense to apply child-directed treatment where appropriate. This limits ad personalisation in line with COPPA requirements. See Section 6.

5. Google Fonts

This site loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser requests these fonts, your IP address is sent to Google's servers under Google's Privacy Policy. This occurs regardless of your advertising cookie choice. You can block Google Fonts via a browser extension if preferred.

6. Analytics

This site may use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our content — for example, which letter-of-the-week pages are most popular and how long readers spend on activity guides. Analytics data is processed under the following conditions:

• IP addresses are anonymised (IP masking enabled) before data reaches Google's servers
• Data is aggregated and used only to improve site content — never to target individual users
• GA4 analytics are subject to Google's Privacy Policy
• You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on

No analytics data is linked to personally identifiable information. We do not use analytics to create individual user profiles.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

ShowAndTellLetter is directed exclusively at adults — parents, teachers, caregivers, and homeschoolers. It is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Because our content covers early-childhood education (preschool through second grade), we take extra precautions beyond the minimum required by COPPA:

• Ad configuration: Google AdSense is configured with child-directed treatment (TAG_FOR_CHILD_DIRECTED_TREATMENT = 1), which instructs Google to limit ad personalisation and restrict ad categories to those appropriate for family-safe content
• No child-facing inputs: No forms, comment sections, or interactive fields are presented to or intended for children. Newsletter sign-up, contact forms, and any future account features are reserved for adult users only
• Analytics configuration: Analytics are configured to exclude data collection on pages where child engagement is likely (e.g., printable activity sheets opened in-browser)
• Content screening: All advertising partners and embedded third-party content are reviewed to ensure age-appropriateness for family audiences
• Parental rights: If you believe a child under 13 has submitted any personal data to this site, contact us immediately at info@showandtellletter.com. We will verify and promptly delete the information

This site has not been submitted for CARU (Children's Advertising Review Unit) approval. If you have concerns about child-directed advertising standards on this site, you may contact CARU at bbbprograms.org/programs/all-programs/caru.

8. Third-Party Services

The following external services may process data when you use this site:

• Google AdSense / DoubleClick — advertising (with consent). Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Analytics 4 — anonymised usage analytics. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Fonts — font delivery. Sends IP address to Google servers.
• YouTube — linked videos hosted by YouTube/Google. YouTube may set cookies if you visit their site.
• Downloadable files — PDFs may be hosted on third-party storage. We do not collect data on downloads.

9. How We Use Information

Information collected is used to:

• Deliver the newsletter you subscribed to
• Display advertisements (with your consent) to fund free content
• Understand which pages and resources are most useful (aggregate only)
• Maintain site security and diagnose technical issues
• Respond to messages or requests you send us

10. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

• Server log data and any information you voluntarily submit may be processed on servers located in the United States
• Google (AdSense, Analytics, Fonts) transfers data internationally under its own Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework participation
• By using this site, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws differ from your own

12. Your Rights

13. California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

• Right to know — what personal data we collect and how it is used
• Right to delete — request deletion of your personal data
• Right to opt out of "sharing" — Google AdSense's use of your data for cross-context behavioural advertising may constitute "sharing" under CPRA. You can opt out by declining advertising cookies in the cookie panel, or by using the NAI opt-out tool
• Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — we do not collect sensitive personal information as defined under CPRA
• Right to non-discrimination — declining advertising cookies will not affect your access to any site content

14. Data Retention

Newsletter email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Server log data is retained for up to 90 days. Cookie consent preferences are stored locally in your browser and are never sent to our servers. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months (the minimum GA4 retention period) before automatic deletion. Advertising data retention is controlled by Google per their privacy policy.

15. Do Not Track

We do not use first-party behavioural tracking. When advertising cookies are active, Google AdSense may not respond to DNT signals. Declining advertising cookies in our cookie panel is the most reliable way to prevent ad tracking on this site.

16. Data Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect data submitted to us. The site is served over HTTPS. No internet transmission is completely secure. Please do not submit sensitive personal information through contact forms.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the site grows or as legal requirements change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. For material changes, we will provide notice on the site's homepage for at least 30 days. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
